The good people of the Asari-Toru Local Government Area came out en mass to sign for peace and nonviolence before, during and after the 2015 elections. At a Town Hall meeting facilitated by AA PeaceWorks Nigeria with funding from PIND, over 200 persons representing Chiefs, Security personnel, political parties, youth and women groups, and faith based groups attended the meeting. A candidate of the Labour Party, Douglas WaSerite Dodiyi-Manuel was also at the meeting which took place on the 18th of March 2015 at the Conference Hall, Buguma. This event was a follow-up to the Peace Summit convened at the instance of the Amanyanabo of Kalabari by the Buguma Internal Affairs Society (BIAS) on Saturday, 14th March 2015.

The participants took a critical look at recent events and took proactive measure to avert violence by enacting and consenting to a peace pact –

The youths have vowed to expose any politician that has the intention of causing violence or even providing arms. They spoke with one voice and agreed to ShunWahala and to give peace many CHANCES.

Politicians Beware! If your intention is to foment trouble, then stay away from  Asari-Toru Local Government Area. Be warned, because we will expose your evil intention and cause you to face the law… Livingston Membere.
